Partnering with consumers

Consumer voices are essential to PRMs. People with lived experience, wether patients, carers, families, and supporters, help shape how PRMs are designed and used to improve care across NSW.

We partner with consumers to ensure PRMs reflect what matters most by:

  • recognising lived experience as expertise
  • listening and acting on feedback
  • building respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and diverse populations
  • creating safe, inclusive opportunities for involvement.

Our approach is guided by trust, transparency, and collaboration. By partnering as equals, we aim to make PRMs a tool that truly supports better health outcomes and experiences for all.

Curious about the impact of consumer voices? See our consumer stories.

Want to get involved?

Consumer engagement opportunities include:

  • IDEA Consumer Advisory Group: providing advice, insights and co-design input to support PRMs and other digital health initiatives
  • Implementation and Design Working Group (IDWG): contributing lived experience to statewide decision-making and implementation planning for PRMs
  • Project scoping and co-design activities: sharing perspectives to inform early-stage design and development work
  • Sharing your story or experience: helping inform improvement through lived experience and feedback.

We run periodic expressions of interest (EOIs) for different consumer engagement opportunities across the program.

You don’t need to wait for an EOI to open. You can share your story or register your interest at any time by emailing ACI-PRM@health.nsw.gov.au

PRMs Symposium

The ACI hosts an annual PRMs Symposium to bring together clinicians, managers, and stakeholders from across NSW. These hybrid events provide an interactive platform to share ideas, explore emerging trends, and learn about best practices in PRMs.

The program includes keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and structured networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration and innovation. Attendees gain practical insights and build connections that strengthen the PRMs community and support improved patient care.

PRMs SharePoint and News Digest

A collection of the latest news articles are published on the NSW Patient Reported Measures program SharePoint site. It includes resources, events, and patient, carers and clinician stories.

Email the PRMs team at ACI-PRM@health.nsw.gov.au if you would like to contribute stories about using patient-reported measures.

Community of Interest

The ACI PRMs Program hosts a PRMs Community of Interest.

The Community of Interest provides a forum to:

  • network, collaborate and build understanding of the importance and value of PRMs and/or for those interested in implementing PRMs into their clinical setting
  • share information across organisations on Patient Reported Measures
  • spotlight patient, carer and clinician stories
  • support, identify and solve common issues.

During the meetings, participants are asked to contribute by sharing their experiences, challenges and what is working well. This includes offering advice and guidance to others on how to progress towards embedding PRMs as part of ‘business as usual’.

All members are welcome to identify topics for discussion and presentation. These can include a topic of interest or one that PRMs users would like to present/share experiences with the group.

The meetings are held via videoconference. Summaries of the meetings, and where appropriate presentation materials are available via the PRMs SharePoint. All PRM program network members are invited to join. Invitations to attend are sent via email to all members ahead of each meeting.
