Eye emergency manual

Published: May 2009

The Eye emergency manual is for medical and nursing staff in emergency departments across NSW. Clinicians can use the manual to assist them in recognising and managing common eye emergencies.

An expert working group provided input to the manual, reaching consensus using the best available information.

For each of the presenting conditions, the manual includes:

  • immediate action
  • history
  • examination
  • treatment
  • follow-up and when to refer
