Trauma-informed care is an approach to service delivery based on an understanding of the ways trauma affects people’s lives, their service needs and service usage.
What is trauma?
Trauma is defined as an event, series of events or set of circumstances that are experienced as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening. Trauma can result in acute and/or ongoing adverse effects, distress or disruption to the individual's life.
