This clinical practice guide provides guidance on the diagnosis and treatment pathways of acute ureteric colic (AUC) in adults. AUC affects a significant proportion of the population. The purpose of this guide is to reduce clinical variation in diagnosis and treatment protocols in NSW hospitals.
The guide provides background information and outlines key recommendations including:

  • diagnostic evaluation
  • diagnostic imaging pathway
  • surgical treatment
  • safe provisional discharge.
