Agency Information Guide

This page is the Agency Information Guide which describes the basic structure and functions of the ACI, the various kinds of information it holds, and how members of the public can access this information.

About the ACI

The ACI is a Chief Executive-governed statutory health corporation that reports to the NSW Minister for Health and Secretary of NSW Health.

Established by the NSW Government in direct response to the Garling Inquiry into Acute Care Services in NSW Public Hospitals, the ACI has built on the work of the Greater Metropolitan Clinical Taskforce (GMCT), and works closely with health consumers, clinicians and managers across NSW.

The Agency for Clinical Innovation is the lead agency for innovation in clinical care. We bring clinicians, consumers and system leaders together to design and implement innovations in healthcare across the NSW public health system to change the way that care is delivered. The ACI’s clinical networks, institutes and taskforces are chaired by senior clinicians and consumers who have a keen interest and track record in innovative clinical care.

We also work closely with the Ministry of Health and the four other pillars of NSW Health to pilot, scale and spread solutions to healthcare system-wide challenges. We seek to improve the care and outcomes for patients by re-designing and transforming the NSW public health system.

Our innovations are:

  • person-centred
  • clinically-led
  • evidence-based
  • value-driven.
