Overview
The monthly Virtual Care Exchange Forum provides participants the opportunity to extend their knowledge and capability when integrating virtual care into clinical practice. It is facilitated by experts and clinical champions who share knowledge and learnings (successes and failures) from integrating technology into clinical care.
Join us for the October 2026 forum as we celebrate the lead up to Virtual Care Awareness Week. We will share patient, carer, family and clinician experiences of virtual care across NSW Health and celebrate innovative virtual care models.

1:00 pm | Welcome |
1:05 pm | Clinician panel discussion: Hear from clinicians as they share their experiences, insights and practical knowledge from delivering care virtually. This engaging panel discussion will showcase perspectives from medical, nursing and allied health professionals, highlighting real-world examples, lessons learned and emerging opportunities. Participants will gain valuable insights into the challenges and successes of virtual healthcare delivery. The panel will be moderated by Donna Parkes, Stream Lead, Virtual Care and Clinical Registries. |
2:00 pm | virtualADULTS: This statewide virtual urgent care service provides video consultations to patients living in NSW. The service runs 365 days a year, from 8am to 10pm. Patients referred to the service receive a nursing triage and a review by a senior emergency specialist or GP. The service aims to connect patients with the right follow-up care for their condition and has the capacity to refer to specialist services without presenting to emergency departments. 2:45 pm | NSW Ambulance Virtual Clinical Care Centre (VCCC): Learn how clinicians provide safe, quality, and timely patient care through a comprehensive and integrated Secondary Triage and Referral service. This presentation will explore how a pilot program refined referral pathways and collaborated with community care providers to deliver a medically led clinical hub that reduced geriatric bed usage. 3:15 pm | The Sydney Virtual Hospital Fracture Clinic recently published results from the RECITAL trial, showing that adults with simple fractures who did not require surgery or a plaster cast achieved similar or better outcomes through virtual care. The forum is open to all healthcare managers, providers, administrators, patients, consumers and carers across NSW, Australia and internationally.
