Special considerations

Updated the descriptors of Short stay patients to include the ‘ands’.

A patient is suitable for a short stay menu if they are:

  • not malnourished on admission and
  • not at risk of developing malnutrition and
  • not requiring increased nutrient requirements, e.g. maternity patients do have increased nutrient requirements and
  • expecting to be discharged from hospital in three nights or less.

Updated the descriptors of Short stay patients to include the ‘ands’.

Short stay patient criteria:

  • Well-nourished on admission and not at risk of becoming malnourished through their admission, and
  • Expected stay in hospital is three nights or less, and
  • Does not have additional nutritional requirements
