Allergy diet - no garlic (strict)

Aim

To provide a diet that strictly excludes all varieties of garlic.

Characteristics

Avoids all foods containing garlic including trace amounts and all forms of garlic including fresh, dried, pastes and powders.

Indications

Allergy to garlic or complete avoidance for religious reasons.

Nutritional adequacy

Nutritionally adequate.

Precautions

  • It is not possible to provide a full list of all permitted commercial products; the following are general guidelines only.
  • Clarification is required for foods that contain compound ingredients (e.g. vegetable powders) to determine their components.
  • Care should be taken to read all product ingredient lists to look for garlic or derivatives as ingredients.

Paediatrics

Suitable for use in paediatrics when combined with an age-appropriate diet.
