Diet specifications

Nutrition Network

The NSW Health Nutrition Standards (2024) define the basic food and nutrition needs of adult and paediatric inpatients and are used as the basis of menu design.

Separate detailed guidelines called diet specifications are needed by dietitians and food service providers to facilitate the development of menus for patients, especially those with higher or special nutritional needs. Diet specifications give guidance about the type and quantities of suitable foods for adult inpatients needing a range of therapeutic diets.

Select from adult diet specifications or paediatric diet specifications to go to a grouped list of all diets, or view the full list of diet specifications.
