Support to deliver virtual care

MyVirtualCare enhancements

The myVirtualCare enhancements that went live in late February have been well received by users. The enhancements were the first major update to the system since its launch and addressed feedback from clinicians and users.

The Virtual Care Taskforce is distributing a survey to understand more about what clinicians need from their virtual care platforms. We encourage all NSW Health clinicians and staff supporting the delivery of care to complete the survey.

Your feedback will inform the future capability of videoconferencing platforms, ensuring you have the clinical tools to support virtual care.

My Health Learning video modules

The myVirtualCare for Clinician video module has been updated in collaboration with eHealth NSW and is available on My Health Learning (search course code 317978152). The new content reflects recent enhancements and incorporates feedback received from users.

We are also working on updating the coordinator, interpreter and system administrator modules.

Spotlight on virtual care

Two more services have been featured in our virtual care series Spotlight on virtual care:

  • The Royal Hospital for Women and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District showcase their model of delivering virtual antenatal booking appointments, and demonstrate how virtual care can be used for an initial antenatal visit.
  • Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District shares how its Family Metabolic Health Service provides multidisciplinary, tertiary-level assessment and management of people with severe obesity, through a hybrid model of in-person and virtual care for patients, using videoconferencing.

Palliative care

The team are working closely with the Pam McLean Centre to host several sessions about having difficult conversations, for palliative care service providers across NSW.

The team also welcomes two new staff members to support virtual care in palliative care projects. Maaike Allard has been appointed Project Lead and Nicole Barratt appointed Project Support Officer.

Virtual Care Exchange Forum

The Virtual Care Exchange Forum (previously known as the Telehealth Capability Interest Group) is a monthly forum showcasing services that have successfully integrated virtual appointments into their practice. More than 280 people have already attended the forums held this year. Check online for the next forum dates.
