This toolkit provides practical guidance on using the Westmead Post-Traumatic Amnesia (PTA) Scale to assess people with suspected moderate to severe traumatic brain injury.
The Westmead PTA Scale is a validated screening tool used in clinical settings to assess post-traumatic amnesia. Use this toolkit to:
- identify when to use the Westmead PTA Scale
- administer the scale correctly and interpret results
- adapt administration for patients with non-standard requirements and specific clinical needs
- access test instructions, resources and related tools
- understand the difference between the Westmead PTA Scale and the Abbreviated Westmead PTA Scale (A-WPTAS)
- support patients, families and carers.
