Offered concurrent with multidisciplinary intervention following initial assessment
Content

The 3 goals of the program are to:

  • reduce reliance on medications
  • improve activity tolerance and function
  • improve pain coping.
  1. Interactive medical sessions:
    • Acute and chronic pain
    • Principles of management
    • How to minimise pain
    • Role of medication
  1. Medications review
  2. Group cognitive behaviour therapy – pacing and pain coping strategies
  3. Group exercise therapy – individual and general targets, learning about pacing in practice, gym work

Group size4-6 people per group with spouse or support person
Availability3 times per year
EligibilityPatients must be independently mobile
Follow up
  • Monthly group reunions
    As advised by pain clinic staff
    Participants can attend more than one program
