Eligibility

Patient on the waiting list for elective total hip or knee replacement; Referral from specialist for conservative management

Referrals accepted for people with a Body Mass Index (BMI) >40 who are not eligible to go on the waiting list for joint replacement surgery.

• Multidisciplinary team includes:
  • Physiotherapist
• Intervention provided:
  • Comprehensive assessment, intervention and education with coordinator
  • Prescription of home exercise program
  • Development of Personalised Management Plan
  • Liaison with GP and other specialists
• Common referrals
  • Community-based exercise programs
  • Multidisciplinary Allied Health teams within hospital
