About this service

  • Diabetes
  • Foot Ulcer/wound
  • Osteomyelitis/Bone Infection
  • Charcot neurarthropathy deformity (either acute or chronic)
  • Acute Lower limb ischemia with foot ulceration
  • Gangrene of the lower limb
  • Cellulitis or soft tissue infection or absess
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease
  • Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease
  • Previous Amputation

Resident of SLHD catchment, or patient is from a regional or rural area

Patients who have severe vascular disease may not be appropriate for these services. We invite phone calls to discuss the appropriateness for treatment of these patients

  • Multidisciplinary team includes:
    • Diabetes Educator
    • Dietitian
    • Endocrinologist
    • Orthopaedic Specialist
    • Orthotist
    • Podiatrist
    • Vascular Specialist
  • Intervention provided:
    • Comprehensive assessment, intervention and education with clinician and MDT
    • Outreach
    • Pressure off-loading footwear, devices
    • Preventative and Step down Podiatry services
  • Common referrals
    • Multidisciplinary Allied Health teams within hospital
    • Community based Allied Health

Preventative or Step-Down services available at the following locations: Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Concord Hospital, Balmain Hospital, Canterbury Hospital, Croydon Community Health Centre, Marrickville Community Health Centre
