This two-day event (8am-4.30pm each day) will cover topics across the continuum of care from acute to rehabilitation settings, including pathophysiology of burn injuries, surgical and reconstructive operative treatment.
There will be a focus on on the management of:
- wounds in the rehabilitation stage
- scars
- exercises
- splinting
- pain
- psychosocial issues
- nutrition
- swallowing and voice.
Audience
This event is aimed at health professionals who have minimal experience with or are just beginning to work with people who have sustained a burn injury, or those who are interested in this area of practice.
There will be interactive sessions with burn survivors on the second day, emphasising the collaborative nature of the multidisciplinary team when working with severely burn injured patients.
