Ways of delivering virtual care

Virtual care is any interaction between consumers and members of their care team occurring remotely, using technology.

Clinicians determine the most appropriate modality to use when providing care. The consumer’s journey may incorporate in-person care and virtual modalities that reflect the clinical need, individual factors and access to technology.

To help ensure a positive consumer experience, health staff should develop their confidence using technology and strategies to engage with consumers. To do this:

  • practice using the technology in non-clinical situations
  • access local support from your virtual care manager or lead or colleagues
  • access training to enhance your skills, knowledge and confidence before delivering care.

Resources and training modules are available to support you.
