Clinical governance

Healthcare providers are responsible for the safety and quality of their services, regardless of how care is delivered.

This includes:

  • having clinical governance and incident management systems and policies in place
  • support for research and access to data and evidence
  • well-established safety and quality systems, with clinicians able to access medical and technical devices to provide high-quality care
  • support for clinicians from managers and executives
  • guidance and support, e.g. education and training, to integrate virtual care
  • effective change management, including a communications plan, to support the integration of virtual care. Refer to the planning tools available from Virtual Care Central (NSW Health staff only)
  • centralised coordination of virtual care, aligning local clinical service plans to government priorities.
