What is the NSW Quitline?

The NSW Quitline is a free and confidential telephone counselling service that provides the help you need to quit smoking or vaping.

How can I access the NSW Quitline?

The cost of your call is the same as a local call from a landline, with higher costs for mobiles.

You can also leave a message with the NSW Quitline at any time (make sure you leave your name and contact number so a NSW Quitline counsellor can call you back).

NSW Quitline counsellors are available at the following times:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 8:00pm.
  • Saturday: 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday and public holidays: Closed.

Languages other than English

There are NSW Quitline counsellors who speak Arabic, Vietnamese, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Aboriginal Quitline

Quitline has a dedicated Aboriginal Quitline service run by Aboriginal counsellors. The Aboriginal Quitline is available for all Aboriginal residents of NSW and the ACT.

In a medical emergency call an ambulance – dial triple zero (000). If you have any concerns, see your local doctor or healthcare professional. If this is not possible return to the emergency department or urgent care centre.
