Injury Scaling: Uses and Techniques Course

The Injury Scaling: Uses and Techniques course introduces the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) and is the international accreditation course developed by the Association for the Advanced Automotive Medicine (AAAM) in the USA. The course is taught by accredited instructors.

ITIM, on behalf of AAAM, is the AIS course licensee for Australia and New Zealand.

Who should attend the course

The course is applicable to trauma clinicians, trauma data managers, injury researchers and public health and policy professionals.

Recommended knowledge base for AIS course

These recommendations are to ensure your success in completion of the Injury Scaling Course and will provide you with a solid basis from which to build your AIS coding understanding.

1. 3-6 months of experience in working with a trauma or coding registry.
2. Health information management or clinical coding background.
3. Basic anatomy course or equivalency.
4. Basic medical terminology course or equivalency.
