A rural Innovations Changing Healthcare RICH Forum working party was established within the ACI Rural Health Network to develop a framework /format for the inaugural RICH Forum which was held 14 March 2014.

Regional Aged Care – Hospital Avoidance

A Regional Aged Care Working Party has been established within the Rural Health Network to work through options for residential aged care residents to access emergency care for certain disorders or conditions, which do not necessitate transportation to ED from the RACF. The Working Party will aim to identify potential current successful regional aged care hospital avoidance models and work with rural health service providers to prioritise a model for broader implementation. The working party will be time limited to 12 months October 2013 – October 2014.

NSW Rural Health and Research Congress 2014

Rural Health and Research Congress - Model of Care Workshop

ACI conducted a multidisciplinary workshop was conducted at the Rural Health and research Congress to introduce participants to the processes for developing a model of care so that the model has the right elements to be implemented. This facilitated session gave 25 participants the opportunity to work on their own proposals.

NSW Health Innovation Symposium Sponsorship 2013

Following expression of interest, eighteen rural clinicians were sponsored by ACI to attend the recent NSW Health Innovation Symposium to experience where local innovation is making a difference to patient care across the state and provoke system wide thinking on how we can become even more innovative in sharing ‘lessons learned’.

NSW Cancer Directory

NSW Cancer Services: Canrefer is a directory set up by the Cancer Institute NSW to help general practitioners, other health professionals, patients and their family members find cancer services by cancer type and location in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. The information in Canrefer will help general practitioners in referring newly diagnosed cancer patients to specialists attached to multidisciplinary teams and support timely referrals as early on in the cancer journey as possible.
