Renal Clinical Community of Practice: COVID-19

The ACI's Renal Network will provide an opportunity for sharing of ideas, strategies, local solutions and concerns with respect to COVID-19 Pandemic preparedness.

The community of practice will be multidisciplinary and include representation from all districts and networks. It will enable clinicians and clinical managers in cardiology from all districts to provide expert advice and guidance to the system, and to escalate matters that require a statewide or system response.

Membership

The ACI Renal COP will be open to all clinicians and managers involved in delivery of renal care to patients across NSW. Membership is open broadly to include all interested NSW Health staff from each LHD and specialty network, as well as professional colleges, private providers/clinicians and other non-government organisations.

Aims

The ACI’s Renal Network has been asked to form a Renal Community of Practice (Renal COP) by the Ministry for Health (Ministry) to provide an opportunity for sharing of ideas, strategies, local solutions and concerns with respect to COVID-19 Pandemic preparedness with escalation to Dr Nigel Lyons through to the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) and/or the State Health Emergency Operations Centre (SHEOC).

To facilitate this process the Ministry, supported by ACI, has identified clinical leads across a number of clinical specialties. The clinical lead for Renal is Dr Peter Choi, Head of Renal Department, John Hunter Hospital.
