ITIM involvement in trauma research

The NSW ITIM is involved in trauma research through co-funding or co-authoring with other parties including clinicians, academic institutions and research institutions, together with its role in the Research Advisory Committee. Current research projects involving ITIM are outlined below.

Evaluation of the Paediatric Trauma System in NSW

Aim: This study will determine the best processes of care for the severely injured child in NSW. The development of a Paediatric Quality Audit Tool will soon be published.

Injury Trends and Mortality in Patients with Major Trauma in NSW

Aim: This study will examine data trends in the NSW Trauma Registry over the past five years.

The Epidemiology of Post-injury Multiple Organ Failure in NSW

Aim: This epidemiological study will prospectively collect data on multi-organ failure, a major cause of mortality, across the state.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in NSW

Aim: This study will look at the rising incidence of TBI in NSW using data linked between the NSW Trauma Registry and the NSW Admitted Patients Data Collection

The Multidisciplinary Shock Management and Advanced Radiology Trauma Team. Translating Emerging Evidence for severely injured road trauma patients

Enhanced trauma triage: Derivation and validation of the Sydney Major Trauma Risk Score
