Clinical
The clinical component of the trauma system is the most vital and most complex of all components. Monitoring of the NSW trauma system is a core role for NSW ITIM.
Data
NSW ITIM is responsible for managing the collection of data about moderately to critically injured people admitted to trauma services in NSW. Data collected about these patients is held securely in the NSW Trauma Registry.
Research
Research in the field of trauma is vital to continually improve patient outcomes together with improving the trauma system, making trauma care more efficient and cost effective.
Education
The coordination and support of multidisciplinary trauma education in NSW is a core business role of the NSW ITIM.
