Trauma guidelines and position statements
Trauma guidelines and position statements are vital tools that assist trauma clinicians in making appropriate clinical decisions whilst caring for an injured patient.
The guidelines are intended to provide a general guide to the management of specific injuries. The guidelines are a general guide to be followed, subject to the clinicians judgement in each case. They are not definitive.
The position statements outline an endorsed position taken by NSW ITIM on a given clinical topic. They are not a clinical guideline; however, they should be used to assist decision making and support local policy and procedure development.
