Privacy Policy

This page outlines the ECI’s Privacy Policy for prepared by the ECI on behalf of the ACI and the State of New South Wales. It applies solely to this website.

The ECI and ACI upholds the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998. Those accessing the ECI website have rights relating to any of their personal information that is collected by the ECI, the ACI or the State of New South Wales relating to the website.


We use cookies for authentication purposes and general activity trends. They are pieces of information that a website sends to your browser when you access different parts of a site. They do not get linked to any personally identifiable information.

What information do we collect?

There are sections of the website that may require personal information. When this is requested will will ensure that as far as possible:

  • the fact that the information is being collected
  • the purpose for which the information is being collected
  • information that the ECI does not need is not requested

Whenever the website is viewed, some information is logged. This includes:

  • the IP address of the machine used to access the page
  • the type of browser used
  • the date and time the page was visited
  • the page being viewed

Whilst we strive to protect such information and use SSL encryption throughout the site we do not warrant and cannot ensure the security of information which you transmit to us. No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed as totally secure. Accordingly, any information which you transmit to us is transmitted at your own risk. 

How we use collected information

The information we collect is securely stored, and is only available to ECI and ACI staff. This information is then aggregated (combined) with other logged information and is examined for patterns of usage. Information on visitors to the website are collected by Google Analytics which collects information on pages visited, length of visit, URL and search terms of referring sites, the browser’s capabilities, and the IP address. Google will not associate this with any other data held by Google. You can opt out of Google Analytics with their opt-out browser add-on or any of a number of third party privacy extensions for your browser.

The ECI will not pass on any of your information to mailing lists, advertisers or other internet sites.

The ECI will however pass on an individual user's information where the security of the site is threatened or the law is broken by a user.


When leaving comments on the ECI website you consent to the disclosure of information that you contribute. Please note that any information you post in the comments becomes available to anyone viewing the ECI website. We advise care to be taken when disclosing any information and ensure you have the permission of the other person if you disclose any of their information in the comments.


The ECI on behalf of the ACI and the State of New South Wales is only responsible the privacy practice of this website and not in relation to any other sites that are linked to the ECI website. 

If you at any time think that the above privacy principles have not been followed, or you have any comments or suggestions, please contact us.
