High Flow Dry Nasal Prong Oxygen
High flow nasal prong oxygen is used to provide apnoeic oxygenation during intubation to extend the safe apnoea time.
Nasal cannula are placed under the facemask during pre-oxygenation
Oxygen is delivered at 15L/min
High flow nasal oxygen is continued during the tracheal intubation attempts. This is described by the acronym NO DESAT (nasal oxygen during efforts securing a tube) allowing the continued benefits of apnoeic oxygenation
