Resuscitation Apps

Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS)

FREE. This app from the Advanced Paediatric Life Support group is a comprehensive collection of BLS and ALS algorithms including neonatal resuscitation, the choking child, anaphylaxis, brady and tachyarrhythmia management, decreased LOC, status epilepticus, C spine and hyperkalaemia management. The app allows you to select one of the algorithms in its completeness and swipe efficiently between each of the 14 separate flow charts without having to go back and forth from the landing page. The app also includes the APLS calendar of events and dates of all APLS courses around Australia.

FREE. App from the UK Resuscitation Council with both adult and paediatric resuscitation algorithms for BLS, ALS, tachy and brady arrhythmias, the choking patient and anaphylaxis. Unfortunately the iResus application is not in development at present although the Resuscitation Council will be reviewing it in 2015 in the lead up to the release of the new resuscitation guidelines. The app is still available on itunes but does have some faults including the inability to view each guideline in full, instead requiring you to tap the screen to get to the next step in the algorithm – time consuming and unnecessary. This app has the potential to be great and for that reason we keep it in our listing in anticipation of the 2015 update.
