Novel coronavirus

In 2019 a new coronavirus was detected, with a majority of cases affecting people in Hubei Province, China. There is still much more to learn about how this virus, including; how it is spread, its severity, and other features associated with 2019-nCoV, and investigations are ongoing.

To access the latest updates, information for health professionals and resources in both English and Mandarin, please go the NSW Health Novel coronavirus information page.

Infection with the new coronavirus is now a notifiable condition under the NSW Public Health Act, so all cases and suspected cases must be reported by doctors to NSW Health public health authorities who will work to prevent spread of the infection to others.
